Biography
Fawzi Banat obtained his BSc and MSc in Chemical Engineering at the University of Jordan in 1988 and 1991, respectively. In 1995, he obtained his PhD in Chemical Engineering working in the area of membrane distillation applied to desalination and removal volatile organic compounds from water. He then moved on to teaching and research at different universities. In 2003 he was promoted to Professor at the Jordan University and Science and Technology (JUST). Currently, he works as a professor of chemical engineering at The Petroleum Institute. He is the author or co-author of more than 100 publications in refereed journals, among them 3 book chapters. In addition, he has served as the Dean of research at JUST University in Jordan and as the Dean of graduate studies and acting Dean of Natural Resources Engineering at the German-Jordanian University. Prof. Banat’s research contributions have been recognized by a number of prestigious awards for young investigators, namely, Shoman’sAward for Young Arab Researchers, Hijjawi’s Awards for Applied research, and the award of exceptional researcher from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Jordan. In recognition of his international research reputation, Prof. Banat was listed among the leading scientists in the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC).

Fundamentals of multi-component mass transfer, membrane separations applied to desalination and waste water treatment, renewable energy and gas treatment.
